The father of the 11-year-old boy, who was allegedly buried alive by his stepbrother in Apamsede, Kogi State, is evading the authorities, according to the NAN.
Sources also indicate that the shovel and cutlass purportedly used in the heinous act have gone missing.
The barbaric act took-place on wednesday, when passers-by rescued the 11-year-old from a bush in the Silo community, Zango Daji, Adavi Local Government Area.
The 11-year-old accused to have stolen the sum of N10,000 from his stepmother, and the step mom instructed her son to punish the little boy. The 17-year-old stepbrother took the boy into the bush and buried him alive.
Mr. Oshodi, the father, said to be currently away, and the police are awaiting his return for his account of the events.
But the district head of Apamsede revealed that the father, stepmother, and stepson were summoned to the traditional rulers palace to explain their actions.
The boy’s father is said to be on the run when they insisted on inviting the police to handle the matter, stated the district head.
The stepmother and her son, Goodness, had confessed to committing the act.
When the police team visited the house, they found that the shovel and cutlass allegedly used in the act were missing, indicating signs of possible tampering on the premises.
