It is with a heavy heart that I announce the sad news of Mr Ibu's passing. He breathed his last on Saturday at an undisclosed hospital in Lagos State, at the age of 62.
While news of his death first circulated on social media, it was later confirmed by Emeka Rollas, the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
According to Mr Rollas, Mr Ibu suffered a cardiac arrest and did not survive. This is a tragic day for the entertainment industry, as we also mourn the loss of Kate Henshaw's mother earlier today.
Mr Ibu had been battling various health issues for months, including blood clotting in his leg which ultimately led to its amputation. Despite treatment and support from fans, he was unable to receive further therapy overseas due to his condition.
He returned home after a month in the hospital but sadly passed away shortly after. Among his extensive filmography are hits such as Mr Ibu (2004), Mr Ibu and His Son (2003), Coffin Producers (2004), Husband Suppliers (2005), International Players (2006), and Keziah (2007). Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace.
