In a strategic move to consolidate party strength, the Edo State Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa has issued a compelling call for unity among All Progressives Congress (APC) members, emphasizing the need to transcend existing divisions for the state's progress.
Speaking at a well-attended New Year celebration organized for APC Edo South leaders at the New Festival Hall, Government House, Benin City, on Saturday, Idahosa reflected on the party's historic victory in the September 21, 2024, governorship election and outlined his vision for a more cohesive political future.
"The time has come to bridge our differences and forge ahead as one," Idahosa declared, acknowledging the party's successful unseating of the incumbent administration. "God's faithfulness to the APC in 2024 manifested in our electoral triumph, and we must maintain this momentum through 2025 and beyond."
The deputy governor, addressing the gathering of party stalwarts, emphasized that while pockets of division exist within the party structure, reconciliation is paramount for Governor Monday Okpebholo's administration to effectively deliver on its mandate. He specifically highlighted Edo South's crucial role in spearheading this unification effort.
Call for Collective Action
Idahosa's appeal extended across the seven local government areas of Edo South, stressing the importance of unity in building both a robust party structure and a stronger state. His message centered on supporting Governor Okpebholo's vision and ensuring the fulfillment of campaign promises to the electorate.
Lucky Imasuen, former deputy governor and prominent party leader in Edo South, reinforced this message, calling on supporters to embrace unity for the state's development. "Our collective progress depends on our ability to work together harmoniously," Imasuen emphasized.

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, a former governorship candidate, offered a stark warning against divisive elements within the party. "Our recent victory over the incumbent party stemmed from our unity," he stated, adding that the party would no longer tolerate actions that could undermine its cohesion.
Ize-Iyamu emphasized the need to eliminate negative practices such as spreading misinformation and fostering discord. "A united APC under Senator Monday Okpebholo's leadership will deliver practical and good governance to the people of Edo State," he affirmed.
